Face Lifts
A facelift is a surgical procedure which aims to address lax or drooping facial and neck tissue by standard discrete access incisions (in the temple hair-bearing scalp, in front of and behind the ear and backwards into the hairline) to allow firstly the underlying muscle layer to be lifted then the skin to be smoothly draped and tightened.
Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery, e.g. to remove hooded excess skin in upper eyelids or to reduce eye bags, deep tear troughs and wrinkles in the lower eyelids typically has the biggest impact in refreshing and rejuvenating the facial appearance of all the facial cosmetic procedures.
Rhinoplasty (Nasal reshaping)
The shape of a person’s nose is largely an inherited characteristic. The shape is determined by the bone and cartilage which make up the skeleton of the nose, over which the skin is draped. Some people are unhappy with the size or shape of their nose. Injury can also lead to an unsightly appearance.
Otoplasty (Ear Correction)
This is a surgical procedure which involves reshaping the ear and setting it closer to the head – commonly known as a procedure for ‘bat ears’ or ‘ears that stick out’ aiming to ‘pin them back’. The actual size of the ear will not be changed significantly – this requires a different procedure.
Neck Lift Surgery
Ageing causes deterioration in the face and neck, not as fast in all cases. Some have sagging of the face and some of the neck. In some cases, sagging involves both the face and the neck. Minor sagging of skin and platysma muscle can often be corrected during a face-lifting procedure.
Brow Lift
A Brow Lift Procedure (also known most commonly as an endoscopic brow lift or ‘endo brow’) is designed to reposition the eyebrow, often in conjunction with an Upper Blepharoplasty. Ageing changes in the face are reflected by the lower position of the eyebrow and can contribute to heavy upper eyelids contacting the eyelashes.
Chin Reshaping & Cheek Bone Surgery
When we talk of ‘normal’ facial appearance, we imply that there is a ‘normal’ balance to the features of the face – particularly the nose, chin and cheek bones. If one of these features is out of proportion with the others, a face can look out unusual especially to someone who is aesthetically sensitive.
Lumps & bumps removal
I offer a range of minor procedures, including the removal of cosmetic ‘lumps and bumps’ including excision and reconstruction of suspected skin cancers (Basal Cell and Squamous Cell Carcinomas etc.), excision of benign moles, split ear lobe reconstruction, scar revision and ‘lumps and bumps’ excision.
Non Surgical Techniques
Wrinkle treatment (Botox)
Anti-wrinkle injections, or Botox injections, are an effective treatment to reduce lines and wrinkles. Peoples’ facial expressions change because the muscles in the face contract or relax. This is caused by the brain sending a signal via the nerve endings that someone wants to frown or laugh.
Dermal Fillers
Wrinkles from with ageing and the loss of elasticity of the skin causes sagging and deeper folds. A wide range of commercial injectable fillers exist – reputable practitioners would almost always use temporary resorbable fillers which are the subject of this information sheet.
Chemical Peels
This is a controlled deep chemical exfoliation which helps to restore your skin to a more youthful, smooth, tighter appearance. Careful choice of tried and tested biomedical agents allow the depth of the peel to be carefully regulated revealing tighter fresher skin after healing.
